Assisi Jeri Ryan Ph.D.
Assisi

Keeping an Eye and EARS out for the Animals is what Assisi is all about.

Dr. Jeri Ryan received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1972. As a practicing psychotherapist and hypnotherapist for more than 30 years, Jeri has honed her natural empathic skills through her work with children, adolescents and adults. Having a deep yearning to develop intellectually and in her professional field, Jeri continues to expand her studies. Continuing education courses toward maintaining Jeri’s psychology license are always chosen with the goal of applying new skills to her ongoing work with both human and nonhuman animals.

Twenty-some years ago Jeri’s interests gravitated toward consciousness in and about nonhuman animals. In 1995 Jeri founded the Assisi International Animal Institute, a nonprofit and nondenominational educational institute dedicated to promoting respect, reverence and ethical stewardship for all animals. As founder and president of the board of stewards, Jeri created Assisi with the express purpose of raising consciousness for and about animals in order to promote their status and well being in the world at large.

Dr. Ryan is an internationally renowned teacher of beginning and advanced telepathic animal communication workshops. She has traveled extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe, teaching, for over 16 years. In addition to developing and teaching Assisi’s curriculum and its comprehensive professional animal communicator certification program, Jeri also leads workshops on Compassion Fatigue, Grief Support, Healing the Healer, Animals & Ethics and Reiki.

The training and expertise Jeri has gained in death, dying and grief can readily be applied to nonhuman animals and their persons. Sustained studies with the renowned chakra expert, Anodea Judith, are in preparation for understanding, teaching and writing about the roles, functions and wellness support of these spiritual centers in nonhuman animals. Her studies with Charles Figley and with Karl La Rowe have prepared her to lead workshops in Compassion Fatigue for those on the front lines of animal rescue and care such as animal shelter workers. Studying SoulCollage with its creator, Seena Frost, has enabled Jeri to provide another tool to be shared with animal care persons to prevent and heal burnout and compassion fatigue. SoulCollage is also a method for clarifying personal and interpersonal dynamics between and among humans and nonhumans.

Jeri’s continued training and experience enable her and her students to empathize with and address the experience of both animal and human clients. Jeri’s psychic studies began with Sandra Mussey, an internationally known trainer for psychic readings with humans. Penelope Smith, internationally known and pioneering teacher for animal communication, has been Jeri’s primary animal communication teacher. Other animal communication teachers include Jean Moshovsky and Bea Lydecker, also pioneers. Amongst Jeri’s other spiritual teachers are David Jarrell for Reiki and Selene Vega.

A Tellington TTouch Practitioner, Reiki Master and practicing psychotherapist in Oakland, CA, Dr. Ryan also maintains a very busy private consulting practice helping people and animals improve their bonds and to resolve problems. Her animal family currently includes one rescued dog; a very loving, lively, delightful, eager-to-learn, quick-to-learn, loyal, responsive, silly American Staffordshire Terrier, commonly known as Pit Bull. O’Shea defies the reputation of this much maligned dog, who, like human children, merely has to be loved, respected, trained and supervised to be the good citizen that O’Shea is.

Jeri has published an audio cassette set entitled: Telepathic Communication: A Compassionate Journey, and writes in her spare time.
